My dad was a huge inspiration to me. When I was young he had an accident and fell off of a roof while doing construction work. Luckily, he survived, although he suffered some serious injuries. Nevertheless, he always had a smile on his face and wouldn’t let me see him in pain. He always said that “laughter is the best medicine” and he proved that every day. He never failed to throw a ball around with me to help me practice for softball, or go to the park and shoot hoops with me, even though it was clear his shoulder and hips were fighting against him. I am so fortunate to have been able to spend those years with him before he passed away of an unrelated illness, and I am thankful every day for the positivity and support he gave me.
